It Won't Be Easy, But It'll Be Worth It

Where do I begin? In July of 2008 I was the mother of a 3-month old, a 2-year old, and a 3-year old, and I'd learned approximately a month earlier that we were going on an expat assignment to St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. The news didn't come as a surprise. My husband and I had been to Moscow, Russia several years earlier, but I returned to the U.S. to give birth to our first child, and we always knew the opportunity to move abroad would likely present itself again. The move to St. John's was not an easy relocation. And not just because my children were young and the weather was unreasonable. (If you've ever lived in or even visited St. John's you know as well as I do that "unreasonable" is exactly how the weather should be described.) But because every relocation is difficult, and international moves add a extra level of difficulty. International moves--even those "just" to Canada--are best undertaken by intermediate players.
